FanAngel review: the budget coached option

Most of the rep-led experience at roughly a third of the price, plus the most fun mechanic on this list. The trade is brand weight: FanAngel is a much smaller operation than the names above it.

Not a partner

FanAngel is not a partner of Fundraiser Scout or booster. We earn nothing from the links on this page. Our site is operated by booster, a competitor — here's exactly how we handle that. Every factual claim below is sourced and dated.

What it is

FanAngel is coached team crowdfunding: campaigns with individual athlete pages, an assigned campaign coach who helps you set up and push, and a flat 7% platform fee + ~3% processing — explicitly positioned against the "20–30%" rep-led incumbents.

The mechanic worth stealing

Performance pledges: supporters pledge per outcome — $5 per touchdown, $2 per three-pointer, $1 per PR at the meet. It turns the season itself into the fundraiser and gives relatives a reason to follow every game. No other platform on this list does it, and teams that use it report it's genuinely fun.

The honest trade-offs

  • Small brand, thin third-party record. Fewer independent reviews and references than anything else we ranked. The platform has operated since 2018 on Stripe rails, but you're buying from the challenger, not the incumbent.
  • Coached ≠ rep-run. The campaign coach helps, but your program still drives participation — it sits between Snap!'s full service and 99Pledges' full DIY.
  • One-shot economics. Same reset as every campaign platform: no recurring revenue, no off-season income, donor list value doesn't compound.

Who should pick FanAngel

Programs that want guidance without paying 20% for it, and teams whose sport produces countable moments that make performance pledges sing. Who shouldn't: programs that need the reassurance of a giant's track record, or that want fundraising running year-round rather than campaign by campaign.
